Get ready for an evening full of fall fun, friendly faces, and festive costumes! Join us at North Shore Park for our annual Wards Corner Civic League Fall Festival ā featuring Bingo, a Costume Contest, and plenty of time to mingle with your neighbors.

Habitat For Humanity Home Repair Program

Sharing information about a partnership betweenĀ Habitat for Humanity of South Hampton RoadsĀ and theĀ City of NorfolkĀ that may benefit residents in our community.
Through this program, Habitat for Humanity is providingĀ free roof replacementsĀ for eligible homeowners. All work is completed byĀ licensed contractors, and there isĀ no cost to the homeowner.
Eligibility Overview:
- Homeowner must beĀ low-incomeĀ and live in the home full-time.
- Priority is given toĀ veterans, persons with disabilities, and individuals aged 50 or older.
- Homes must haveĀ asphalt shingle roofs.
- Properties located inĀ federal flood zones are not eligible.
We appreciate your help in spreading the word to residents who may qualify. Applications are accepted year-round as funding allows.

Special Waste Collection Event

Fall is a great time of year to clean out closets and declutter those dusty garages and sheds.
While you may uncover some surprising treats, it can be tricky to properly dispose items such as household hazardous waste, electronics and plastics.
There’s no need to be scared! Just put those items in the car and bring them to Keep Norfolk Beautiful’s Special Waste Collection Event on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 9 a.m. to noon at Azalea Baptist Church (3314 E. Little Creek Rd).
This drive-through and drop-off event offers Norfolk residents the opportunity to properly dispose plastics, electronics/e-waste and household hazardous waste (HHW) such as paint, batteries, pesticides, cooking and automotive oils, propane tanks and more, free of charge. Proof of residency may be required.

Residents can also bring personal documents for secure, on-site shredding. Plus, Friends of Norfolk’s Environment will be giving away trees to residents with proof of address while supplies last.
