NFK2050 Online Engagement: Phase 3

The NFK2050 team recently wrapped up a series of open houses to kick off Phase 3 engagement, where the Draft Comprehensive Plan was revealed and comments were gathered on draft goals, actions, and strategies. The team has just begun the next round of engagement to close out Phase 3 – this online activity, as well as additional in-person opportunities to provide input. This activity provides an opportunity to comment on the five main sections of the plan.

Heat Advisory

Extreme heat is heading our way.

Beginning today, the following locations will serve as cooling stations for those looking to get out of the heat. Bottled water will be available. 

  • The Downtown Branch at The Slover
  • Blyden
  • Jordan-Newby
  • Lafayette
  • Mary D. Pretlow
  • Park Place
  • Richard A. Tucker Memorial
  • Van Wyck

Please take precautions! 

☀️ Stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, when possible.

☀️ Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.

☀️ Keep hydrated.

☀️ If possible, find an air-conditioned environment.

HRBT Expansion Center Open Houses

Summer 2025 Schedule:

  • June 25-10 am-4pm
  • July 12 – 9 am-noon
  • July 28- 10 am-4pm
  • Aug 10 Noon-3pm
  • Aug 27 10 am-4pm

The Welcome Center is located at 9401 4thView Street, Norfolk, VA 23503. Come and learn about the expansion project from subject matter experts!

4th of July Parade

The Wards Corner Civic League is hosting a short neighborhood parade this year. There are plans to have a fire truck, ice cream truck, and water bottles for attendees. This parade is by neighbors, for neighbors. So if you or your children would like to walk, bike, stroll, scoot, or wagon ride in it, please dress in patriotic colors and meet at North Shore Playground by 9:30am!
